Gay bars in West Hollywood: a WeHo nightlife guide
Updated October 9, 2026
West Hollywood is one of the best-known LGBTQ+ neighborhoods in the world, and most of its bars sit within a short walk of each other on Santa Monica Boulevard. Here is a simple guide to the main spots, what each one is like, and how to plan a fun, safe night out.

The main WeHo strip
The heart of WeHo nightlife is Santa Monica Boulevard between about La Cienega and Robertson. You can start with drinks, catch a drag show, dance, and grab late-night food without needing a car.
The Abbey Food & Bar
The most famous name in WeHo. Big patio, food during the day and a packed dance floor at night. A good first stop if you are visiting.
Micky's West Hollywood
Gay bar and nightclub with drag shows, go-go dancers, happy hour and a dance floor that runs late.
Trunks
A classic, easygoing neighborhood bar at 8809 Santa Monica Blvd with sports on TV and a friendly crowd. Their own motto: "Gay, straight, curious – who gives a hell".
Roosterfish WeHo
At 8948 Santa Monica Blvd, a relaxed bar for drinks and conversation, easy to pair with the bigger clubs nearby.
Or Bar
At 8228 Santa Monica Blvd, on the east side of the strip, a cocktail bar for a calmer start to the night.
Hi Tops, The Bayou, Revolver, Mother Lode and DeVille's
Hi Tops is a gay sports bar (good for game days and brunch). Revolver is known for music videos and dancing. The Bayou, Mother Lode and DeVille's are popular neighborhood bars with a mix of crowds.
SweetWater WeHo
West Hollywood's lesbian and sapphic-centered spot for live music, dance parties and cocktails. See our lesbian and queer bars in LA guide for more.
Tips for a night out in WeHo
- Most bars are 21+ and check ID at the door. Bring a real photo ID.
- Weekends get busy after 10 PM. Go earlier or join a guest list to skip the line.
- Parking is hard. Rideshare, or park once and walk the strip.
- Go with friends, keep an eye on your drink, and share your plans with someone you trust.
Plan it in the app
In Let's Have Fun Together you can search "90069" or "West Hollywood", see what is open tonight, filter for gay and lesbian bars, save places, join a group going out, and send a "meet up tonight" invite with a time and place. You can also start a check-in timer and add a trusted contact for extra peace of mind.
Venue details were checked in October 2026 from each venue's own site and well-known city guides. Hours, cover and theme nights change often, so check the venue's own page or social account before you go. Bars and clubs are usually 21+ with ID. We are not affiliated with any venue listed.
