Queer bars in Silver Lake, Los Feliz and Downtown LA
Updated October 9, 2026
West Hollywood gets the attention, but a lot of LA's queer nightlife lives on the east side: neighborhood bars in Silver Lake and Los Feliz, late-night spots in East Hollywood, and a growing cluster of queer bars in Downtown.

Silver Lake and Los Feliz
Akbar
At 4356 W Sunset Blvd, an oasis for the neighborhood's queer community since 1996. Laid-back, inexpensive drinks, a mixed crowd and a busy calendar of DJs and parties.
Eagle LA
At 4219 Santa Monica Blvd, a longtime bar for LA's LGBTQ+ leather community, with a patio that fills up most nights.
Hi Tops Los Feliz
At 1714 N Vermont Ave, a gay sports bar (the second location after WeHo) with game-day food, weekend brunch, a patio, and a dance floor people actually use.
Casita del Campo and the Cavern Club Theater
At 1920 Hyperion Ave, a pink Silver Lake Mexican restaurant open since the 1960s, with a longtime LGBTQ+ crowd and the Cavern Club Theater for queer performances.
East Hollywood and MacArthur Park
Honey's at Star Love
At 1532 N Western Ave, a sapphic-friendly late-night bar with Art Deco wallpaper, rotating DJs and good non-alcoholic options.
Silver Platter
At 2700 W 7th St, open since 1963 and known as a safe party space for LA's Latinx trans community. Pool table, cheap drinks and a dance floor.
Downtown LA
Precinct
At 357 S Broadway, a second-floor "rock & roll gay bar" with a busy dance floor, rotating performers and DJs, and a happy hour.
New Jalisco Bar
At 245 S Main St, a favorite of LA's queer Latinx community, with cheap drinks, dancing and drag. The community raised over $80,000 to keep it open in 2020.
Kiso
At 107 W 4th St, opened in December 2024 by two neighborhood residents, with a full bar and a margarita menu.
